Just a little off

It hasn't been above or even close to freezing lately. That means it has been cold enough to freeze snot here for at least a week. This is the kind of weather that really ushers up freaky cases of cabin fever. My dogs come in hobbled because they have ice or salt stuck between their toes. I get snow and ice packed inside my shoes trying to get them walked far enough in the mornings so they can find just the Right Spot.

Any human with a dog knows that there is just the Right Spot for each poop, but no human has ever figured out what the Doggy Guidelines and Logistics are for a Right Spot. If you forget your senses and disrupt a dog almost in a squat, the Search for the Right Spot begins anew from sniff one.

I already tried once to escape this perma-frosted land. I hustled my buns down to Florida, where it's never cold. It was cold while I was there. It was far better than here, but my ice-rimed body did not thaw long enough.

So, it only stands to reason that I need to get out of this location for at least a little bit. Off of this ice. A little off. I am headed out west, but not to Arizona this time. I am going to Las Vegas, but only for a weekend.

How long has it been since it snowed in Las Vegas? Want to make any bets as to when the next time will be?

Know any good dog sitters?

It seems with your recent luck it will be cold in Vegas when you get there!  I wish for warm weather though.

So, is it really good n cold right now where you are located?!  So, is my son getting a real good taste of what it's like if he moves there?!

It can get might cold in Vegas, too!  It'll be 68F here on Saturday.  Have a great time, and don't lose all your money...in one casino, that is :)

Oh, I know so well about "the right spot"!  Sadie doesn't care how cold it is, she has to sniff and circle and sniff and circle and half-squat and change her mind.... what a mess!  Meanwhile, I'm freezing.

I've noticed that about dogs even though I don't have one. Have fun in Vegas. Paula

It has been colder than a well diggers butt here too! Sometimes they won't go for a LONG time looking for the perfect spot. When the wind is blowing through you they sure need to hurry! Hope you have a great time on the week end trip. Janie

It takes Maizy the longest time to find the right spot, but thankfully, I can just let her out back since we have a fenced in yard.  I can stay in the warmth of the house.

That's why I am glad we have a fenced in yard.  Although my dog has been giving my kid dirty looks, she says it's too cold to walk him long...thank God it's going to be warming up, they both (the kid and the dog) need to get out for longer than 5 minutes!  Hey if it snows in Vegas at least it will solve their water problem!!  rose~

I am going to ask my dog sitter to find one for you.  She won the BEST Pet sitting service in the USA award.  She has contacts.  I'll let you know.   Yes, I understand that poop spot quest.  They even have a poop walk.   Anne
